London Recap & Sponsor Love

With 60 eager bloggers waiting, the three of us were a heady mix of nerves and excitement before the two sold out London workshops. But we need not have worried. Our ‘blogcadets’ (as they’re now calling themselves – cute!) are definitely the coolest, spunkiest and most passionate guys and girls around. Not scary at all! In fact what a talented bunch of babes they are.

So instead of us banging on about it over and over, we thought we’d share exactly what some of them had to say about the whole thing…

“Well I have to say that it was officially the greatest weekend I’ve ever experienced! I have never in all my days, felt so inspired or excited in my life. My head is jam packed with ideas, my notebook is full and my head is now covered in sparkly bows and bunny-ears”. Emma Rose Black

“Something inside has clicked. I’ve done B-School, I’ve read numerous books & listened to countless voices, but the bringing together of like minded souls is something really special. So for now I just wanted to say from the bottom of my heart, thank you for all the time, energy & love you put into The Blogcademy. It truly feels like a gift that will keep on giving and one that will enable me to grow and pass on the gifts I have for the benefit of others.” Jayne Rusby

“When I initially booked in for my Blogcadet training, I was concerned about the cost – but I left utterly satisfied, and genuinely convinced that the time, effort and sheer volume of actual applicable, real-world advice that you packed into our little London jaunt was worth its weight in gold. The result: I feel so well-equipped with the guidance I need to take my blog to lofty, Eiffel Tower-ish heights, and invigorated and energized to get my butt into gear and do it!” Caroline Gallatly

“Just being in the same room as Gala, Kat and Shauna makes you feel like you can do anything.” Emily Fisher

“I don’t think I learnt as much in a year at Uni as I did from The Blogcademy girls in two days. That’s where I think The Blogcademy really shines, we were given real life scenarios and case studies and things were explained in perfect detail. It is blatantly obvious that the three lovely teachers know what they are talking about because they have lived and breathed it for years.” Stephanie Hind

“Words like fabulous, inspirational, glittery, engaging and epic are all accurate descriptions of The Blogcademy but they do not come close to describing the life changing experience that came in the turquoise packaging.” Georgina Webb

“Being a bit of a natural cynic, I was a little worried about spending a not-insubstantial chunk of money on a two day course. I need not have feared. This was, and I’m not exaggerating, the best money I have ever spent – an investment in my blog, yes, but much more importantly, in myself.” Lucy Loves

“I didn’t realise just how much I learned until I found myself slipping advice learned from The Blogcademy into everyday conversations that didn’t have anything to do with blogging. I’m totally going to be ‘that girl’ who keeps talking about ‘this one time at The Blogcademy’…” Xandra Burns

“I would love to tell all the bloggers out there who are writing in any other language than English that The Blogcademy´s awesomeness totally translates and that there is so much to learn, regardless of one’s language.” Julia Safronova

“Don’t be fooled by the pink sparkles and bunny ears, there’s nothing frivolous about The Blogcademy. Real business advice from three successful professional women who are doing it their way… in fabulous shoes.” Scarlett Nymph

If you couldn’t already tell, our Blogcademy graduates are an energetic, enthusiastic bunch and have a lot to share about their workshop experiences! We’ve been keeping touch with them through our private Facebook forum and gathered up their blog posts below:

Prepare To Get Schooled: London Style

Photography: Devlin Photos

We are so excited about the upcoming workshops in London! Gala & Shauna fly in to the UK this week and we can’t wait to be together again (aww). We have a massive SIXTY undergraduates signed up for our London events, and so here is a little reminder about what to expect.

The workshop is taking place at Curtain Road Studios, Shoreditch. Both days kick off at 10 am and we plan to be wrapped by 6 pm each day, with post-workshop drinks in a nearby bar on day two!

To pack in your school bag:

♥ A pen. Each of you will be given a branded workbook and a gorgeous Moleskine in your goodie bag for making notes, but make sure you bring something to write with!

♥ A camera. On day two we have a basic camera skills lesson with a professional photographer. While this isn’t a massively technical workshop, you will have time to practice what you’ve been taught, so if you have a camera, bring it! If not, don’t worry, the camera on your phone will be totally adequate!

♥ Snacks and lunch. We’ll be providing snacks for munching on throughout the day (including vegan and non-vegan cupcakes from Restoration Cake!) but feel free to bring your own too. There are plenty of places to buy lunch locally, but if you prefer to bring a packed lunch, be our guest! There’s a kitchenette in the workshop space where you can store it.

♥ Business cards… Because you never know who you might meet!

We are SO EXCITED to meet you all,

Much love from your overenthusiastic headmistresses,
Kat, Gala & Shauna

Meet Our London Scholarship Winner!

Penny, we loved your creative video. We had some seriously (SERIOUSLY!) amazing entries this time round.  You can check them all out on our Facebook page — we had everything from sketches to sequins and interactive videos to fancy dress!  It really was a tough job to pick just one winner, and we debated every entry back and forth for ages. But in the end, Penny’s cute stop motion video won us over. We loved how it showed her personality, and it really demonstrated the value she’d put on attending the workshop.

And here was her reaction…

OMFG!!!! Can’t tell you how excited I am! Thank you all so much!

Will definitely be shouting from the rooftops, once I come down from the clouds!

Thank you, thank you, thank you!!!!
Penny xo

I guess she’s excited, yes?! Well, so are we! We can’t wait to see you in January, babe!

We only have a few spaces remaining at the second London workshop on 23rd & 24th January. If you’d like to come and party play learn with us, then don’t delay, book your spot today!

With much love from your headmistresses,
Kat, Gala & Shauna

The London Scholarship

Did you know that we offer one scholarship spot in every city!? Yep, that’s right, one completely free pass to the whole workshop!

For the London classes we’ve mixed it up a little, so to enter we’d like you to pull together a blog post and let us know, in whatever format you like, why you should win!*

You could draw a picture, make a video, create an animated gif, start a facebook campaign, get a tattoo (Kat’s idea and she’s only half joking…!) Basically anything that your crazy little brain can come up with.

Publish your entry on your own blog and then simply post a link to it on our Facebook page by 14th December 2012. The winner will be notified via email shortly after so be sure to have a contact page somewhere obvious on your blog.

We can’t wait to see what you come up with!

With much love from your headmistresses,
Kat, Gala & Shauna

*The scholarship winner can choose which date they’d like to attend.

We’re SO Excited! The Blogcademy London – Second Date!

Yes you read that right! The Blogcademy London sold out so fast (in 24 hours whoa!) so we’ve decided to add a second date!

What utter nut jobs…

The third Blogcademy class will take place on Wednesday 23rd & Thursday 24th January 2013, again at the Curtain Road Studios, Shoreditch. The same rules apply so if you’d like to join us hop to it. No excuses for missing out now guys – hurry hurry!

And don’t forget about our scholarship! We’re giving one place away (you can pick whichever date you’d prefer to attend) to the guy or gal who can dazzle us with their creativity. You can read more about The Blogcademy scholarship here.

BOOM! London you rock our world. Come on the UK, let’s BRING IT!

The Blogcademy NYC: A Quick And Dirty Recap!

‘Bag of Tricks’ bags from our fabulous sponsor Alphabet Bags!

Last weekend was a whirlwind of loving, learning and epic inspiration. I think I can safely speak for all three of us when I say we feel like we’ve been through a WAR! We’re mentally exhausted but oh so exhilarated, and even before we each jetted back to our respective corners of the globe, the emails were flying back and forth with excitable plans for the next one! (Watch this space!)

You can read a little more on our respective blogs — Rock n Roll Bride, Gala Darling & Nubby Twiglet — and of course we’ll have full recaps hitting the interwebs like a steam-train soon enough, but I just wanted to stop by to shout a HUMONGOUS thank you to everyone that made it happen.

To Gala & Nubby, my partners in crime and fellow headmistresses: you rock my world, I can’t believe how far we’ve come already and we’ve only done one event! Here’s to zipping around the globe together and teaching in sparkly EARS!

To Lisa Devlin who photographed the weekend & taught our attendees some invaluable photography tips: I love you girl, and we couldn’t have done it without your invaluable knowledge, advice and guidance. Never-ending gratitude!

To Ben Vogel who filmed the event: thank you for being our technical support (!) and for taking our teases like a man!

To Megan and Nikki, our amazing volunteers: Thank you so much for all your help. You made sure everything ran like clockwork and kept us fed and hydrated at all times! We really lucked out finding you girls. Thank you for being the best damn volunteers we could have hoped for.

To our sponsors to made the goodie bags the “best goodie bags ever!” (yes, that was a direct quote!): we love you! Our attendees loved you! You made us look damn good!

Finally, and perhaps most importantly, to the 30 girls who came along, rocked our world and left us with all the warm and fuzzies: thank you for trusting us enough to come to our first event and for generally being so BADASS. Thank you, thank you, thank you. WE LOVE YOU!

The wheels are in motion for the next Blogcademy workshop so keep those peepers peeled to our social media for updates! Ooh I wonder where we’ll be heading next!?!?

Meet Our NYC Scholarship Winner

Julia, we love you so much for the effort you put into your scholarship video. You made our decision easy! Gala was particularly vocal and ridiculously over-excited about the prospect of having another Kiwi at The Blogcademy…

And this was her response when we emailed her to tell her she’d won!

Woah….

This is just what went down in my flat…

Oh! new email….OOooooohhhhh NEW EMAIL FROM BLOCADEMY! ech!

OOOOOoooOOOOOh it’s long…and the first sentence….Holy crap…SCREAMmmmy screechhh! Laptop and me to the floor while flatties leap up looking at me in terror having received obviously shocking news!!….tears. Hugs! A top up of the bubbles! And then off to call clever clever John Jo who helped make the vid and then Mum and Dad who said ” YOU DIDN”T?!?!?!”

Guys, this is just nuts and very exciting!! While I had had pretend scans of New York flights and accommo while procrastinating at work I didn’t actually think I would end up winning and putting myself in a situation where I simply HAD to go to NY no matter what my bank account was yelling at me! So thanks so much, talk about best foot forward! I am actualllllyyyyy going to go to MOMA and Jonathon Adler and Central Park and as all my flatmates have said bump into the cast of “Friends” no doubt.

So thanks for giving me the opportunity and push in the right direction ladies. Simply can’t wait to meet you all!

Pack those bags Julia and we’ll see you in New York City baby!

Meet The Blogcademy Volunteer(s)!

Doucette Duvall

Over the past month we received more applications to be our Blogcademy Volunteer than we could have ever anticipated! It took us a while, but after fighting it out we all came to the same conclusion – that we couldn’t pick just one. So instead we’ve opted for two of our fabulous applicants to come an join us and help us make the very first Blogcademy happen! When you read these short snippets taken from their applications I’m sure you’ll see why we fell in love with them.

Nicole

“My name is Nikki and I have been a devoted follower of Gala Darling for quite some time now, as well as a more recent, but just as enthralled, follower of Lady Kat and Madame Shauna. When I first received news of The Blogcademy, I started scrambling trying to figure out what I could possibly sell in order to attend this much needed workshop. I then spotted the news about the hunt for one lucky scholarship winner! I was preparing my video submission for the scholarship when I received the email about your need for a volunteer. And I thought to myself, “The Blog Gods have opened up the heavens and sent down endless opportunities for me!”

Megan

“My name is Megan, and I moved to New York from Northern California to pursue my dream of working in television about a year ago. Shortly after moving, I started working at a television production company that specializes in producing animal/pet content for television networks. We’re currently working on a show for Animal Planet, about the best moments in pop culture from this year (The Olympics, The Voice, Tim Tebow, etc) reenacted by puppies.”

I don’t know about you, but I certainly want to know more about that

Nicole & Megan we can’t wait to meet you!
