Announcing: The Blogcademy Home School And Mixer Events!

blogcademy_blog_homeschool_2

For two years, The Blogcademy has been travelling the world, teaching the secrets of making a living online to over 400 women. We’ve left a trail of glitter and a community of gung-ho gals in our wake… And now it’s time to bring the magic direct to you.

We wanted to create content that you could engage with any time, and keep learning from as often as you needed. We wanted to film videos so it felt like you were right there with us, and wouldn’t have to read a massive wall of text. We wanted to give it to you Blogcademy style: no boredom, no blathering, no bullshit!

The Blogcademy Home School was our answer. We’ve created Blog Boosters, ten videos around various topics — from advertising, to branding, to creating killer content — that you can use to fill in the gaps in your knowledge. They’re snappy, jam-packed with information, and will get you from point A to B efficiently. No muss, no fuss. We promise that our Blog Boosters will get you excited about blogging, and increase your money-making potential to boot. After all, girls just wanna have funds!

Even better? Our first video, Blogging Basics, is totally FREE! Just click on through to get a taste of what our Home School Blog Boosters are all about.

We’re beyond excited to be sharing Home School with you today. No matter where you live, and no matter how much time you have available to devote to improving your blog and online business, we know these videos (with accompanying worksheets, activities and resources) will help you grow your business. Once you start to implement the lessons you’ve learned, you’ll be amazed by how quickly you see results.

But wait, there’s more!

One of the things we hear over and over again from our blogcadettes is how amazed — and delighted — they are to meet babes just like them at The Blogcademy. Life-long friendships are formed in every single class we teach… And it’s a beautiful thing.

It’s true that meeting your tribe is powerful, transformative, and life-affirming. So we thought, maybe it’s time to do it en masse! How special would it be to introduce 100 passionate blogcadettes all at once? The answer: very special indeed.

Join us — and your future BFFs — at The Roost in London on the 24th of July. There will be delicious mixed drinks, tasty snacks, a blow-your-goddamn-socks-off goodie bag, an all-you-can-snap photobooth, a lively Q&A (so you can get all your blogging questions answered, and then some), and hours of gleeful fun with bloggers, small business owners, and independent babes just like you.

It’s networking, babe, but not as you know it. We promise there will be no sleazoids, fluorescent lights, or stale sandwiches!

Got questions? (What if I don’t drink? What should I wear? How fashionably late would be too fashionably late?) We’ve got answers. And we can’t WAIT to see you there!

Much love,

Your headmistresses.

Bloopers For Days!

You may have heard that we’re launching something VERY SPECIAL on Tuesday the 27th of May. That’s right: our time in Palm Springs wasn’t all pool-side lounging… We were busy creating something brand new for our blogcadettes!

And, well, what’s that saying? “You can’t make an omelette without breaking some eggs”? Well, consider us your new favourite breakfast!

Enjoy this video… We hope it makes you laugh as much as we did!

Don’t forget to come back here on Tuesday… You won’t want to miss this!

Much love,

Gala, Shauna and Kat.

Chicago, Chicago…

Calling all Midwest babes!

We had a BLAST last weekend in San Francisco, and at this very moment we’re sitting at a kitchen table in Chicago, getting excited to teach our second class of the year. The turquoise tornado happens at Enerspace this weekend, in a glorious space with a killer view of the skyline… And more glitter than your eyeballs can handle!

If you’ve been wondering how to grow your online business, how to get more customers or just connect with your tribe, we can help! We have a few seats left in our class this weekend, and we’d love to share our knowledge with you.

Need A Place To Stay In San Francisco?

We absolutely can’t wait to get on the road again: it’s only 34 sleeps until we teach our first class of the year in San Francisco!

It occurred to us that some of you might be at the point of booking your flights, cars or accommodation for the class, and we thought maybe we could help out! If you’re heading to a new city to join us, it can be daunting to try to find accommodation and do all that. So we’ve found a few killer Airbnb listings that we think you’d feel very comfortable in!

For example, you could stay in a garden cottage! It’s $112 per night, and you’re welcome to wander into the house for a cup of coffee or pot of tea.

We love the colours and brightness of this apartment in Cole Valley. Clocking in at $125 a night, it’s a much more cost-effective choice than a hotel… And way more cute!

Chez Paul is a very elegant, mod-style apartment with fantastic architectural details. It’s $189 a night, and accommodates two… So bring a friend!

If rainbow is more your style, this two-bedroom technicolour apartment will surely make you smile… !

You might find that you just need a quiet place to sleep and decompress. If so, we love the private room option, and there are heaps of choices under $100! You can find ’em here.

We can’t wait to see you!

Gala, Shauna and Kat.

(Note: we are not affiliated with Airbnb, we are simply huge fans! We almost always use Airbnb when we stay in a foreign city, and we love it.)

“I Have Finally Found My Tribe!”

mj

Last week, we received this wonderful email from one of our incredible scholarship winners, MJ Valentine.  It was so fantastic that we just had to share it with you.  This is the power of The Blogcademy!

Hi there beautiful Headmistresses,

I’m typing this sitting on the floor in Melbourne airport, after my four most magical days since the Blogcademy back in November. After having only spent two days with the other Blogcadettes last year, I am literally floored by the tremendous love that has grown between us all.

Ashley threw a Blogcadette Roof Top party at her house, just because I was coming to town. We ate glitter-covered cake pops supplied by Michelle, who I was overjoyed to learn has upped the ante on her blog and launched her cupcake business course, which is going global this year. Pearl and I giggled over sex stories and champagne. Lisa came with me to see a stage play in North Melbourne and Brittany and I doubled a sleepover at my hotel with tickets to a burlesque show. I trawled art galleries and ate cupcakes with Millicent and talked iClouding with Lemon.

I am so filled with love and massive, extraordinary happiness for my Blogcadettes. I have never in my life felt such a shocking connection with such a large group of women. It’s been months since I last saw them, but it may as well have been minutes. I know, more than anything else, I have finally found my tribe. And that’s the only thing I’ve ever really wanted.

I can’t express my gratitude to the three of you. If it weren’t for you, I’d be winding up a dull day in the office right about now, feeling miserable and uninspired. It’s so weird – I’m not religious, and yet I feel amazingly, undoubtedly blessed. I’m heading back to Adelaide with the kind of fire in my heart that tears down walls, creates insane art, burns away fear and liberates nations.

I owe everything to you three and I don’t know how I could ever repay you. My Blogcadettes are some of the best people in my life. Thank you, thank you, thank you.

New Dates: London And D.C.! Not To Mention, A Palm Springs Blow-Out!

We are oh so excited to share these three little pieces of news with you!

Firstly, our initial London class (July 22/23) is sold out… So we’ve added a second date!  If you missed your opportunity the first time around, we’ll also be teaching on July 19th and 20th.  Click here to register!

…And we’ve added a second city to our East Coast leg in the Fall.  We’re not just whooping it up in New York City, we’re also coming to Washington D.C. on October 4th and 5th!  We’ve never visited, so be sure to tweet us with everything we must see and gotta do!

Finally, we’re counting down the hours until the three headmistresses are reunited in Palm Springs next month. (It’s our official company retreat, don’t you know?) But since it feels like an age until we’ll see our next batch of blogcadettes, we wanted to bring the party to you… Virtually. On Sunday Feburary 9th, at 11am PST/2pm EST/7pm GMT, we’ll be broadcasting live, probably from the side of a swimming pool, answering your blogging and business questions, drinking champagne, and spreading good vibes. Won’t you join us?

We can’t wait!

Much love,

Gala, Shauna and Kat.

We’re Looking For An Event Coordinator!

Calling all party people! Got an eye for detail? A flair for the dramatic? A yearning to put the “arty” in party? We need you!

The Blogcademy is growing, and we’re looking for someone to help ensure our events are fun, beautiful, and run seamlessly. We’re on the search for an Events Coordinator!

(This is a virtual position, but if you’re based in the USA, we’d love to work with you in person.)

You will be responsible for…
+ Researching and securing a great venue
+ Managing and liaising with sponsors and vendors
+ Coming up with a vision for how the event should look and feel
+ Sourcing any decor items
+ Coordinating with florists, caterers, etc.

In a perfect world, you…
+ Are familiar with The Blogcademy and what we do
+ Have drop-dead style
+ Hold yourself to exceptionally high standards
+ Are a quick and efficient communicator
+ Have events experience (not essential, but preferred)

Right now, we’re looking for someone to help us plan one event. Let’s see how it pans out from there! Pay is commensurate with experience.

To apply, email headmistresses@theblogcademy.com with an introduction and your résumé. What do you think you can bring to our team? We are less interested in what you have done than what you envision doing for us. Dazzle us with your creative vision!

The deadline for applications is 1st February 2014, and you can click here to download a PDF about the role.

Best of luck, and we can’t wait to hear from you!

It’s Beginning To Look A Lot Like Christmas…

The snow is falling, our homes smell like pine needles, and hot chocolate is becoming one of our major food groups. This can only mean one thing: Christmas is on its way!

We’d be miserable headmistresses if we weren’t celebrating it with all of you. And guess what? We have four more Blogcademy goodie bags to give away!

Every bag has its own special mix of treats from our favourite sponsors. Handbags from Iron Fist, pouches from Basik855, sparkly nail-polish from Lex Cosmetics, jewellery from Moorea Seal, glittery shoe clips from Head Full of Feathers, ring pop rings from Cicely Margo, glitter hair bows by MARGRAVINE x Sewmaryann, greeting cards by Mr. Yen, scarves from The Pink Samurai and (of course!) glitter ears from Crown and Glory. They’re all up for grabs!

Wanna Win A Tote Bag Full Of Treasures? Of Course You Do!

After such an incredible first year, it only made sense to celebrate Thanksgiving by saying an enormous thank you to everyone who has supported us… And we come bearing gifts!

You see, when we teach classes, sometimes our sponsors send us a few extra treasures to do with as we please. So we’ve decided to give away four fabulous Blogcademy tote bags, packed to the brim with goodies!

Each goodie bag is a little different, but they’re all full of some of our favourite all-time sponsored loot. You could end up with a pair of your very own sparkly blogcadette ears courtesy of Crown And Glory, a bejewelled necklace from Sparklebeast, a business card holder from Classic Hardware, a copy of WordPress For Beginners by Reeta Krishna or It’s Not How Good You Are, It’s How Good You Want To Be by Paul Arden, a glittery heart pouch from Alphabet Bags, a bracelet from Junk Jewels, a chevron bow from Alternate Normality, star shoe-clips and necklaces by Head Full of Feathers, or a polka-dot headscarf from Remixed by Jackie!

And that’s not even the half of it! (Plus, owning the tote bag definitely makes you an honorary blogcadette!)

To enter: We have four goodie bags to give away and so there are four ways you can enter to win one! Like us on Facebook, and leave a comment on this post or share it on your own page! Follow us on Twitter, and tweet us telling us you want to win or retweet this tweet!
